Harrison Trimble High School (HTHS) hosted Bernice MacNaughton High School(BMHS) tonight in local High School Rugby action. HTHS are coming off of a great 10-0 win over rival RHS and are looking to improve to 2-0. BMHS are restarting their program this year after a couple of years away.
The final score was 15-0 for HTHS. With the quality of Rugby HTHS presented earlier in the week, this is a very good showing for BMHS.
BMHS play again Tuesday in Riverview against the Royals and HTHS will look to go to 3-0, but will have to out class Miramichi Valley High School in The Miramichi.
BMHS Rookie Coach Robbie Baxter posted the following after the game: “Couldn’t be prouder of my rugby boys, they all played awesome in their first rugby game ever! We may have lost but we were in it til the end. #TraditionStartsHere #We‘llOnlyGetBetter”
Thanks to Head Coaches Jones and Baxter, and Referee Adam “Curly” Campbell.
Was excited to see this return for BMHS and I’m very impressed. While their scrum needs some work, their lineout and kicker show just how much potential this team has.
