Women Claim 5th NB Title In A Row, 4th season Undefeated!

Women ChampionsThe Black Tide Women’s trophy cabinet is busting at the seams! The ladies continued an impressive 4th entire season undefeated while winning the New Brunswick Women’s League Championship for the 5th straight time in as many years.

The first half was a tight affair between Moncton and cross-province rivals Fredericton Loyalists, with the scores at 0-0 going into the sheds. The ladies used their mobile pack to pick-and-go, drawing in multiple defenders only to release their speedy backs to gain solid territory. After several try-saving tackles from both teams the game was up for grabs, with momentum swings the norm throughout the match. Neither team opted for penalty kicks preferring the demoralization effect of try-scoring. Moncton touched down for 3 tries through Sam Roy, Hannah Davies, and Kiersten Steeves who also added 2 converts from the boot. The final whistle blew solidifying another successive New Brunswick Title with a hard-fought 19-7 victory for Moncton!

The women now set their sights on the Fall League for more scalps to claim. Congratulations to all the players and especially to head coach Ali Massoudi for his patience and skills to orchestrate another winning effort for the Club.
