High School Girls results May 21st

Game 1: Moncton High School vs Ecole Mathieu-Martin


MHS faced a very determined and resolute EMM at their field today. EMM had in their ranks the new U18 8 man, Maya, who had another outstanding game at that position and gave them all they could handle.


MHS played a dominant forward oriented game and on a very windy field managed to score 58 points to MM 0. Tries for MHS by a few different players and some strong performances by 2nd year scrum half, Rori LeBlanc, 1st year player Frederique Dangremond at prop also 1st year player Maija Lapierre also at prop.


Players of the game for MM, Maija and Natalie Comfort. For MHS it was rookie Inside Center Alexa Pharuns and Kirsten Bulman with two tries. Rori LeBlanc converted 4 of the tries. Overall both teams played really hard and tried to play running rugby were at all possible.

Game 2: Riverview High School vs MVHS

RHS used their powerful back line to beat a determined MVHS 43-15 in Girls Rugby action played Thursday at RHS.

Leading RHS was Captain Maggie MacPhee who scored 2 tries from the inside centre position and also converted 4 tries for a total of 18 points. Brett Cole scored two tries, while Danielle LeBlanc, Jata McCabe and Siobhan Murphy registered single tries.

Scoring for Miramichi were Laure Henderson, Monique Francis and Michelle Ceretti.

RHS Head Coach Melanie Hughes was pleased with the victory and commented “We finally had our forwards back from British Columbia in our line up today so we had the depth needed to take on the other larger packs. Our back line came up big once again today. We should be in good shape for our game on Monday with BMHS.

Melanie added “Full marks for MVHS. They will be in good shape for next year. They played a good game today  and will have a great foundation for next year.”

Game 3 Bernice MacNaughton High School at Ecole L’Odyssee.

28-12 for L’Odyssee.  A second straight loss for BMHS means that Mondays game against RHS is a must win to keep the season alive. RHS and ODC now have 1 loss each with MHS being 4-0.   Selina Hebert man of the match for ODC. Flyhalf for BMHS got two big tries, each for 60 yards. Donnelle converted all four tries.
