MHS came into the AAA semis after being severely tested by ODC a few days before. They knew that their performance against ODC would not be good enough to best SJHS in what was going to be a battle of the forwards.
SJHS did not disappoint. They brought a determined pack and a hard running 8 man with them into this game. Today however, having home-field advantage played in the favor of the Purple Knights. MHS started really strong and after a strong tackle from prop Allie Jones, culminating in a turn over, MHS managed to wrestle control of the game away from SJHS. The hard running MHS 10, Jayde Olscamp, dotted down for the first score of the game.
SJHS managed to test MHS throughout the first half and their best chance came minutes prior to half time with a certain try beckoning was not for the excellent tackle of the MHS Grade 10 full-back, Rori LeBlanc. Half Time score: 15 to 0.
The Second half started very much in the same fashion as the first. MHS exerted tremendous pressure on the SJHS scrum, line-out and contesting the ruck situation through their speedy Flankers, Jill Breau and Olivia Cormier.
Megan LeBlanc played another inspirational captains game at 8 and kept the team focused and ready to compete throughout this bruising contest. Final score for MHS was 27 to 0 with the following players all contributing, Jayde Olscamp at Fly-Half, Flanker, Olivia Cormier, Outside Centre Claire Dooley and the two towers of power Allie Jones and Kristen Bulman each rumbling over for a try.
